Love Them Better

If we are to share the gospel successfully with the lost, we need to love them better than their worldly friends and better than the others in their false religions, including the leaders of those religions. That may seem impossible but if we are indwelt by the Holy Spirit it is possible. Loving others better is a miracle and it is not a miracle that we can perform in our own power. But the Holy Spirit works that miracle often.

Galatians 5:22a: But the fruit of the Spirit is love, . . .

Romans 5:5: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

The love of worldly individuals is no match for the love of God. They do not possess the Holy Spirit and have no chance to compete with His love. It might seem unfair, but it is unwise to expect them to love you as you can love them.

1 John 4:16b: . . . God is love; . . .

When individuals reject Christ they reject love. That is the all-important issue. We should not give them opportunity to reject anyone else or anything else. We should not make anything else the issue. If they reject His love, we need to know that they may have other opportunities to receive it. If we do not love them better than their worldly friends we make ourselves and our lack of love the issue.

If there has not been a moment in your life when you were able to begin loving others better than ever before, you are probably not saved. If you are a Christian who is not loving others better, you are obviously not filled with the Spirit and you need to stop quenching and grieving Him. You are wasting your most fruitful evangelistic tool. The most loving thing we can do for others is share the gospel with them so that they might avoid the Lake of Fire. If you are not sharing the gospel with others, you are not loving them in the most important way. Loving them in lesser ways can pave the way to the most important way. Try to find all the ways that you possibly can to love them better. They need the love of God. For many others and for a time you might be the only channel of His love that God has chosen to give it to them. Sow some love and you might just reap some.
